This winter retreat is an opportunity for existing and new Sangha members to come together and deepen their practice. The bedrock of this practice is mindful living, and Micklepage offers a beautiful rural setting to do this. 

Retreat Practice Overview 

On arrival on Thursday evening retreatants can settle into Micklepage and enjoy a light supper while maintaining an informal silence. We then come together formally to begin the retreat with an evening meditation where we enter Noble Silence. This continues through the retreat to create space within us to notice how we experience our lives and what emerges in the silence. This is a rare gift in our busy, noisy lives and a valuable part of the retreat experience.

Each day will follow a similar rhythm, beginning early with gentle stretching followed by silent, guided and walking meditations. There will also be time for dharma readings and opportunities to reflect on how this resonates personally.

For both beginner and experienced Practitioner, it is an opportunity to explore what our Practice is, and how it is expressed through our lives. This can be explored not only on the meditation cushion but just as importantly as we eat, rest and move around Micklepage together. As well as the group practice there is time for personal reflection, relaxation and walks in the Sussex countryside.

Please be aware this is a silent retreat and most of the meditation sessions will be in silence.

We come out of Noble Silence on Sunday after lunch to share our experience of the retreat, before tidying up and leaving.
