Our retreat will offer various mindfulness practices to cultivate inner peace and well-being. These will include sitting and walking meditation, connecting with the Earth, mindful mealtimes and deep relaxation.
We will also have the opportunity to practise mindful listening and loving speech daily in small sharing groups (dharma sharing families) as well as giving the creative muscles a stretch in group offerings of poetry, songs, stories, music, plays or dance on our last evening.
We will practise Noble Silence (speaking only through necessity) from the end of evening activities until after breakfast. Silence will give us the space to reflect on and to deepen our practice.
All our meals will be vegan, with special vegetarian options for children. Breakfast and lunch will be in complete silence. Evening meals will be silent for the first 15 minutes and eaten with your dharma sharing families. Eating in silence gives us the opportunity to reflect on the effort that has gone into the preparation of our food and savour every bite. We also enjoy the company of our table companions with smiles rather than chatter. We understand that parents with small children may not be able to fully observe this.
