Our family retreat led by Sister Annabel Laity* and Brother Phap Lai and the monastic community of Thich Nhat Hanh, takes place over 5 days from the 24th to 29th August in Stourbridge.

Open to all ages, meaning that parents can attend with young children, teenagers and grandparents, this family retreat offers a wonderful chance to spend time together finding out what mindfulness means in day to day life.

A real time opportunity to spend time with monastics and experienced mindfulness practitioners in a supportive and joyful week exploring the ways in which we can learn to be aware in every moment of the wonder of our lives.

During the 5-day retreat, there will be daily talks about mindfulness that will highlight certain approaches and techniques that we can use when looking at our feelings, perceptions and way of life that can help us to feel calmer and happier, as well as many opportunities to learn and to practice:
– Mindful walking, eating, speaking and listening
– Sitting meditation
– Deep relaxation

And to join in the group offerings of poetry, songs, stories, music, plays or dance on our last evening.

The Old Swinford Hospital School (OSHS) in Stourbridge provides the perfect setting, with lovely grounds, creating a peaceful and mindful community helping all attendees to feel calmer and happier in their daily lives.

Sister Annabel

*Sister Annabel Laity has dedicated her life to mindful living and has taught mindfulness around the world leading large retreats in Germany, France, US, Thailand and many other countries. She will be supported in this retreat by a team of monastics from Thich Nhat Hanh’s main mindfulness centre (Plum Village) in France.

Mindfulness in the Plum Village tradition of Thich Nhat Hanh is a path for living a more peaceful and happy life. It is not just a tool to bring stress or pain relief. Thich Nhat Hanh was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize by Martin Luther King in 1967 for his efforts to bring peace in his native Vietnam.
